Welcome to LTD KENNELS!
~ Food for thought ~
When God made the earth and sky, the flowers and the trees, He then made all the animals, the fish, the birds, and bees. And when at last He'd finished not one was quite the same. He said, "I'll walk this world of mine, and give each one a name."
And so he traveled far and wide, and everywhere he went, a little creature followed him until its strength was spent. When all were named upon the earth and in the sky and sea, the little creature said, "Dear Lord, there's not one left for me." Warmly God turned to him and said, "I've left you to the end my little friend. I've turned my name back to front and called you "Dog".....my loyal little friend."

At LTD Kennels our primary goal is to simply provide good people with a friendly, healthy, athletic OLDE ENGLISH BULLDOGGE. We’ve been involved with the “TRUE” Olde English Bulldogge since 1998 and we’ve been breeding them since 2001. Our family has enjoyed every minute of this time spent with the Olde English Bulldogge and we're sure that we’ll own at least one of these dogs until our final days. |
We’ve owned and met different types of dogs our entire lives, but none have been more interesting than the Olde English Bulldogge.
Although we enjoy and appreciate ALL dogs, especially bull breeds, our first interest is the Olde English Bulldogge. Our dogs come from the original Olde English Bulldogge foundation stock which was created back in the 1970’s by David Leavitt. Our dogs are registered with the Olde English Bulldogge Kennel Club (O.E.B.K.C.) which is |
recognized by the American Rare Breed Association (A.R.B.A.) as the parent club of the Olde English Bulldogge. Although we often show our Olde English Bulldogges, we are by no means Dog Show extremists any more than we are Working dog extremists. We firmly believe that too much of either can be a detriment to the quality of any dog breed. More importantly, as a Law Enforcement Officer that has had the pleasure ofreceiving assistance from |
well trained K-9’s FIRST HAND, we DO NOT endorse the Olde English Bulldogge for training in Personal Protection. Considering the variety of working venues there are for people to work their bulldogges in these days, we simply feel that exposing a dog to Personal Protection training simply isn’t necessary. If someone |
needs to protect themselves from an unexpected threat, there are many efficient ways of doing so without teaching a dog to bite people. Unlike a handgun, a family pet CANNOT be unloaded and placed safely into a gun safe. In fact, once it’s trained to protect with aggression, it can NEVER be untrained and should NEVER be left unsupervised. Unfortunately, many people, for some bizarre reason, assume that the phrase “working dog” |
is another term for “Personal Protection Work”. This may have held true some hundred plus years ago, but in today’s world, a TRUE working dog has the opportunity to perform in more productive work. A few good examples of some very admirable work for a dog |
would be as a travel companion for a person with severe visual impairment; A “Service Dog” which assists a person who has a mobility or health disability. A service animal’s duties include carrying, activating elevator buttons, steadying a person while walking, and helping a person up after a fall; “Hearing Dogs” are trained to alert a person with a seizure disorder. The animal may go |
for help, or may stand guard over the person during a seizure; “Sensory Signal Dogs” assist people with autism. The animal alerts the individual to distracting repetitive movements. People with |

Autism may have problems with sensory input and need the same support services that an animal might give to a person that is deaf or blind. People that enjoy working with their dogs or training their dogs to respond on command, have many more productive areas of work to train their dogs in than “Personal Protection”. Aside from the above mentioned jobs, many people also train their Bulldogges in weight-pulling, |
something it already does naturally could be perceived as significantly irresponsible and detrimental to the Olde English Bulldogg as a whole (Breed Specific Legislation, BSL). Again, this isn't to say that watching a dog control a situation with the intestinal fortitude that many human beings envy, is't impressive because it is QUITE impressive. However, this type of behavior is inevitabally detrimental to the harmonious interaction between man and his BEST FRIEND, the Dog. We're also firm believers |
that all dog owners need to experience Basic Obedience Training with their Bulldogge. A basic understanding as to how a dog interprets and comprehends our actions toward them is a huge step toward a happy relationship between owner and Bulldogge. Any dog |

worth owning who has the confidence to hold his head up will vie for the lead role in the household. It is very easy for dogs to misinterpret the actions and body language of their new owners. Thus, it is very important to understand that your Bulldogge requires a consistant and firm leader. This allows your Bulldogge to learn and accept his/her place within the home and among the family. If you allow the your Bulldogge to be the “boss” or "alpha", |
it will assume that he/she is the leader "alpha" and not listen to you, his owner. Personally, there is little more impressive than watching an animal as capable as an Olde English Bulldogge trying to please his family. Consequently, solid obedience training is the foundation |
to any type of canine work. Well, it's pretty safe to say we aren't supporters of "Personal Protection" training even though we our breed, the Olde English Bulldogge, is categorized as a "working dog ". But that isn't to say that we don't like dogs that are trained in "Personal Protection", because the one thing to remember is that the dog did not wake up one morning and say "...Oh...Oh...Oh train me to bite, train me to bite, Please!...train me to bite SOMEONE. Heck no, his owner made that decision single handedly. |
